Thunderbird is no longer hiding the bcc addresses. Why?
The blind cc addresses are showing up in the recipients' messages. People don't like this happening. Some complain, and I've seen them in their responses.

Does this happen in all cases, with all accounts, all messages?
I haven't seen this myself, so I wonder if your SMTP server is the culprit here.
As far as I know, it happens in all cases.
I can't reproduce that. For me…
- a message sent from a gmail account and Bcc'd to multiple other (non-gmail) accounts arrives with all the Bcc'd addresses hidden.
- a message sent from a non-gmail account to multiple other accounts also arrives with all Bcc'd addresses hidden.
The only place where the Bcc'd addresses are visible is in the Sent copy, which I found a little surprising since it is my experience that gmail redact Bcc'd addresses. It may because I have the sent message stored to an unconventional folder (i.e. not "Sent").
So I suggest the SMTP server you are using is the next thing to investigate.
Failure to hide the bcc addresses only happens in Thunderbird when sending emails through my Hotmail account, not through my gmail account or my hush account. However, when sending bcc's directly at the Hotmail site, the bcc's are hidden. The problem has to be with or between Thunderbird and Hotmail.
The problem with then be the use of exchange server by Microsoft to power their new outlook mail site. I suggest you ask them how to make their software work correctly. Thunderbird does nothing different when sending mail to any mail provider.
THE SMTP protocol is very clear and the actions to be taken are simple. Unfortunately Microsoft have no experience with it at a mail client level. Their exchange product contains the feature which they turn off by default. So they are probably still learning about mail clients and SMTP
