I'm running Thunderbird 128.9.1 (64-bit) on Windows 11. Starting a few days ago, clicking on a link embedded in a note does not work; it is 'ignored'. This used to work fine; i.e. clicking on the link would open up a new tab on my default browser (Chrome). I can copy the link and open it directly in my browser. I can even "open in new tab" using the installed extension. I verified that Chrome is my default browser.

I have a laptop with windows 10 & Thunderbird 128.9.1 and a Samsung S10 using the Samsung email. Both are configured with IMAP. When I open the Samsung email to view and download emails, I can then get home and open my laptop with Thunderbird where it will also download.

If I were to log onto the Gmail through a web browser the email will show in the "all mail" label and no longer be in the inbox, unless I do the phone first and it stays in the inbox until downloaded on the laptop.

so I can't get it on the phone if the laptop is used first. Any ideas ? because logging on to Gmail through the web browser to forward it myself is a pain thanks in advance Mick

Hello,

I need some advice on my Thunderbird email system. The problem(s) that I’m having are what’s frequently discussed with regard to Tbird “gulping” system drive storage, without frequent release.

I have been reading most of the narratives from this complaint, but the problem I’m having seems a lot different. So, I came here to explain my observation(s), in hopes I could correct this issue.

1. I am a long term Thunderbird POP3 user, since before the failures began related to signon security changes, before the Tbird corrections were employed(figuratively rewritten). I left Tbird during that time, and now I’m back. 2. So, like many others, my problem(s) arise from Tbird’s apparent failure to relinquish storage areas, when unused. 3. Right now, My W10 system drive(SSD) is setting at sitting at 122G. 4. It should be <100G, and it’s been as high as 13xG. 5. But, through some magic, something seems to happen during a inactive period, that will magically trip this storage to a more reasonable value. I have seen this 122G drop to 102G, but not in a very long time. 6. Beyond the fact that I’m stumped, I chose to write this narrative because my operations/experiences are significantly different from others I’ve read. 7. First, this is the only problem that I’m having with Tbird. Everything that I perform operates flawlessly. 8. And, probably even more noteworthy, is that I never maintain ANY email data inside Tbird. Barring absence, as soon as I determine email arrival, or any email changes, I simply move that email to a system repository for archival. As soon as this archival is complete, the email is deleted from it’s point of arrival. So, IOW, every time I close this system, Tbird will be completely empty of current mail. 9. Additionally, I initially configured ALL email storage repository to reside on another system removable drive. 10. Prior to this note, I issued the compact request. I did see a 3.0MB, but I’ve never seen anything above 0 MB before. 11. Additional attempts as solving this storage release problem, has warranted my purchase of a software product that will allow me to “look” into the internal storage of Tbird and several competitors, to send this hidden data to other repositories. It’s a long story, but I needed the product to migrate email data, where only Print PDF was avail- able. 12. But, it’s been very helpful in identifying Tbird internal email data that remains, despite the fact that I’d cleaned Tbird of everthing prior to my last review. 13. And, another issue is that all the email data that external email tool identifies, is deeply hidden from my standard Tbird client. The email data may be several/many days old, even though the related viewable email data had been archived/deleted several days earlier. 14. I mentioned that I have my email data re-positioned(#8) to external system repository drive for archival. This specification is issued in the “Local Directory” definition defined within each email target definition. From my long past experie- nces with Tbird, I learned that I could enter each of these “Local Directory” alternate repositories, and just simply erase them of ALL email data. 15. And, the next time Tbird was initialized, those “Local Directory” repositories would be rebuilt, clean. This will remove all email characteristics formerly present. And, the remote repositories(#11) will be built clean, and no latent email data will remain. However, this is probably unavailable for the 99.99% of users that maintain email on/in the Tbird system. 16. Tbird does, at some time, reorganize these repositories to regain wasted drive space. I don’t know/understand just what triggers this reorganization, and it never seems to “sync” the complete unused storage available. Right now, my system drive(SSD) was up to 122GB. Some time during my research, I noticed a drop to 111GB. But, if all empty data was reorganized, it would be <100GB. Of course, when I describe these system drive totals, I’m referencing the high limit of storage, including ALL installed software. (#5). 17. The software product that I installed, to be used to move email data from an email client to a stationary repository, is known as “YOTA Email Migrator” – A product of by YOTA Software Inc. https://duckduckgo.com/?t=ffab&q=yota+email+migrator&atb=v415-1&ia=web 18. I’m very sorry for my extensive narrative, but this is complicated, and complication needs words.

Thank you,

Hello, I'm running Thunderbird 137.0.1 on Win 10 64 bit pc. I'm having some issues with Thunderbird and need some help. I'm not sure if I have 1 profile or 2 as I restored old messages from a pre windows re instillation a few weeks ago, i followed the directions from Mozilla's support article. Today I went to compact folder on my main e-mail account and received error that the folder can't be compacted because it contains unexpected data. I then used the repair folder and when Thunderbird restarted, my inbox message are all gone, about 20 of them. If i do a search in Thunderbird for a known e-mail message, the search screen shows the e-mail message subject line and when I click on it, the new tab will display no message found.

Before this happened I did not see the archive folder in the folder pane, but did not think anything about it until now. I was thinking the messages that are no longer in my inbox would be in the archive folder without being able to show or find the archive folder hoping it may hold the messages.

Is it possible the messages are somewhere on my PC and can be recovered? If so what is the best way to accomplish this? In addition how do i get the archive folders to show up on my e-mail accounts. If this is not the correct forum, please let me know so I can correct this!

Thanks! MM

Oh, woe is me. I had both Thunderbird and Firefox open on my desktop, and thought I was typing into Firefox's address bar. But Thunderbird was actually 'live' (selected?) on the desktop, so that's where my keystrokes went. Not sure what I typed or where the cursor was, but suddenly I have two folders in the left Thunderbird pane that I can't figure out how to get rid of. They are both just above my Local Folders: Templates and Archives folders for one email account, and an Archives for another. All three folders are empty (Archives had "2025" subfolders, but I was able to delete those). Keyboard strokes generated these, but they don't delete. What can I do? Can I navigate with Windows Explorer to where these folders actually reside and delete them there? I sure don't want to mess anything up. Many thanks in advance!

I have been considering using the calendar feature in Thunderbird. I like to print a weekly list of events, etc. However, when a Microsoft Team appointment is accepted, all the details about that are in there. So it defeats the purpose of a clean succinct list. Any way to edit events showing in the Calendar/List, esp. this specific instance? Deleting and adding simple clean event might get back to Meeting scheduler. Thanks

TB Portable 137.0.1 Windows 11 24H2

I've created a mailing list in my personal address book, typed in the names as they auto filled from my current address book, and saved the list.,

If I right click on the mailing list in the address book and select write, it sends OK.

However when I forward an email and selecting the list to send to, I get the following error.

Sending of the message failed. An error occurred while sending mail. The mail server responded <mailing list>: recipient address must contain a domain. Please check the message recipient "mailing list" and try again.

The To field has the following mailing list <mailing list>

It appears that TB is using the name of the mailing list as the recipient instead of using the email addresses in the mailing list.

I have another TB portable install that works as expected. ie I can start typing the mailing list name in the To (or CC & BCC) fields and it sends OK.

I recently installed Thunderbird on a new Windows 11 PC. Everything works except calendar reminders. My Thunderbird profile lives on the D drive so I copied my old profile.ini file which points to my Thunderbird profile on the D drive from the old pc at C:\Users\"ownwer"\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird to the corresponding folder on the new PC. I have the latest version of Thunderbird, 136.0.1. The old PC was using Thunderbird version 115.5.1. When I tried to revert to version 115.12.0 I got an error message about the profile incompatibility between versions that related to version 68 i.e. "Unable to use profile when you launch an older version of Thunderbird". Please help.

Fixed. The problem seems to be caused because the new version defaulted to not showing reminders for writable calendars. Click on the burger symbol at the top right of the calendar window and choose Settings. Scroll past what is immediately visible to the bottom of the window to find the setting for "Show missed reminders for writable calendars" and select. This setting is not available for individual calendars when you view their properties by right clicking on the calendar name in the bottom left window but the "Show Reminders" must also be selected here to see reminders.

There does not seem to be a way to install Thunderbird on either iOS or iPadOS. I'm sending this using a school account as I don't want to use my office account. However, if Thunderbird was available on iOS/iPadOS, I can absolutely guarantee actual monetary support from the office. We would finally be able to trash Outlook, which we hate but which supports Windows, Mac, and iOS/iPadOS. We want to have the same app suite across platforms if at all possible. The lack of iOS/iPadOS support for what seems to us to be no good reason, given that Thunderbird does support Android, which we are junking because Android usage has fallen to under 6% of our users, is a giant red flag for us.

Why doesn't Thunderbird support iOS/iPadOS? Personally, I suspect a GPL issue. And that kind of thing would be another giant red flag.

Hello,

Recently I have started to have emails fail to deliver to a certain domain and the message that comes back is

550 DKIM Sender Invalid - envelope rejected.

I am using Thunderbird v128.8.1 esr (64-bit). Extensions installed are: 1. Attachment Saver (Deimios, v.0.2.2) 2. FileLink provider for Send (Teal Dulcet v2.1.1) 3. Remove Duplicate Messages (Eyal Rozenberg v0.6.1)

I have been in communication with this client for several years and not had this problem before. When I send email to the same recipients using WebMail there is no problem, it is only when I send from Thunderbird.

I am not using any encryption type of setup.

Has anyone come across this before? Does anyone know of a solution?

Thanks, Franc.
