I successfully migrated Tb from W10 to W11, but I cannot get new msgs since. I think Windows 11 is blocking me, because I get a momentary window that 'I cannot use my personal login" when Tb is trying to use my settings that worked on the W 10 TB to get my mail. W11 is driving me crazy!

Any insights and help will be greatly appreciated.

I will receive an email in my Inbox and open it to read. When I close and exit the email, it will stay bolded in the Inbox, as if it's a new email that hasn't been read yet. The only way to get it to "un-bold" to show it's been read already, is to right click on it and select "mark as read". Is there a setting I am missing to show opened emails as read?

I always use Thunderbird to access my work gmail account. However, just yesterday, I started getting messages that my password was rejected. I changed my password, but I get the same message from Thunderbird, though I can log in to my gmail account through the web. The OIT person at my university said that Google has recently changed the security requirements for passwords, and that the security settings for Thunderbird likely need to be altered, but they could not help me do this. Is a new version of Thunderbird needed?

On Thunderbird receiving outlook emails works find.

But when trying to send an outbound email I get the following: Sending of the message failed. The message could not be sent because connecting to Outgoing server (SMTP) smtpoffice365.com failed. The server may be unavailable or is refusing SMTP connections. Please verify that your Outgoing server (SMTP) settings are correct and try again.

What should I check or how can I fix this?

Hello I download emails from the server to Thunderbird using POP3; the emails are NOT deleted from the server. The POP3 Inbox allows me to create sub folders. However I also have the option to create sub folders under Local Folders. I am not sure which method to use when when cleaning out the Inbox to subject-matter subfolders - create them under POP3 or local folders?

Note that I use POP3 instead of IMAP because multiple people access the account.

Thank You Peter

Hey, all! I'm running the latest Thunderbird (137) on Windows 10.

I noticed that when I'm viewing messages in the unified inbox, I can no longer hit Ctrl-R or Shift-Ctrl-R to reply, nor can I use Ctrl-L to forward a message. (The toolbar buttons don't work either.) I have to either open the message and reply/forward from there, or view the message in the particular account's inbox (rather than the global inbox).

I don't recall this being an issue before, but it started happening either with version 135 or 136. I thought it was an add-on, but even in Troubleshooting Mode the problem persists.

Is this an intended change in the behavior? A bug? A setting I can change? Thanks for any help!

TB at version 128.8.1 ESR on Windows 10 PC

I wanted to delete a single message in the Sent folder. I assumed it would go to Trash. I highlighted the line with the email, hit Enter and all the emails after the selected one disappeared. Nothing went to Trash. I copied the Sent folder, opened it with Editpad Lite. All of the emails are sitting there. They have X-Mozilla-Status of either 0009 or 0019. I'm not sure of what I should do next to get these back. Could someone help me out please. Sorry I have a typo here - I said "hit Enter" - that should read "hit Delete"

I recently installed Thunderbird on a new Windows 11 PC. Everything works except calendar reminders. My Thunderbird profile lives on the D drive so I copied my old profile.ini file which points to my Thunderbird profile on the D drive from the old pc at C:\Users\"ownwer"\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird to the corresponding folder on the new PC. I have the latest version of Thunderbird, 136.0.1. All the events are Thunderbird created there is no connection to other calendars. I have tried reinstalling Thunderbird. The old PC was using Thunderbird version 115.5.1. When I tried to revert to version 115.12.0 I got an error message about the profile incompatibility between versions that related to version 68 i.e. "Unable to use profile when you launch an older version of Thunderbird". Please help.

My problem is bigger than just this, but I'll begin here.

1. Sometimes, when requesting "Get Messages" from a Thunderbird account, I will see a message count appear, download, and then conclude. 2. However, when looking through the email inventory for this account, no email appears. 3. IOW. If I have "Myemail" defined, and I'm ABSOLUTELY sure that "Myemail" is entirely empty.

  1. I then select "Get Messages" for "Myemail", and I see one, or more, email documents found, and begin receipt.
  2. When the receipt concludes, I open "Myemail" Inbox, only to find nothing there. I wander through the entire "Myemail" definition(s), only to find that any/all email receipt(s) for "Myemail" have disappeared.

This is an infrequent occurrence, but does occur. But, the real problem is the synchronization between a specific Thunderbird email account(i.e. "Myemail"), and what a product called "YOTA email migrator"(https://yotasoftware.com/thunderbird-migrator/) says about the current contents of "Myemail". Obviously, the discrepancies are varied, but there will usually be some kind of discrepancy in reporting an "inbox", "sent", "trash", etc. discrepancy. I never keep my email collective permanently in my Thunderbird definitions.

My Thunderbird account definitions redefine ALL message repositories from the default (C:) definitions to another (Q:) residency, permanently mounted external drive. So, by the end of my day, my Thunderbird email inventories have all been drained/distributed to other more topic related final storage.

I've been a long time Thunderbird user, except during the time when Tbird was struggling with many definition changes for POP3 access. But, I've returned to Tbird now that the smoke has apparently cleared. But, this is my FIRST use of the "YOTA email migrator", which was acquired for use during a "Mailbird" usage, while Tbird was being rebuilt.

If you install this "YOTA email migrator" product on your Tbird system, I'm sure you will experience the Tbird email (sub)directory discrepancies that I am describing. I've learned that because my Tbird directories are always zeroed by the end of the day, I can simply erase all those "Local directory" definitions, and they will be rebuilt upon the next Tbird initialization. At which time, the Tbird/YOTA director(ies) content representation will be equal at zero. But, as Tbird email content begins to arrive, and be saved, moved, deleted, etc. the message directory representations between Tbird, and "YOTA email migrator" begin to drift apart.

I KNOW this explanations are quite complex, but I think it will become quite clear if you install the "YOTA email migrator" product, and then begin to review the eventual discrepancies between Tbird's message inventory(ies), and that reported by "YOTA".

Thank you, very much. And, I'm usually frequently available if desired.

I have installed the latest Thunderbird v 137 and have tried to add a new Outlook email account (run by GoDaddy) which by default is IMAP (see attached document). With this configuration, it fetches emails but fails to do the following:- (1) unable to send emails (2) fetch any of my folders with stored emails

I also tried using Microsoft Exchange instead of IMAP and but it does not fetch any messages or folder history unless I add a paid subscription to 'Owl" which I prefer not to use.

Thank you.

Kind Regards Thunderbird email user
