How to keep certain cookies from being deleted when Firefox closes
Hi,
I'm wondering how to keep cookies from certain website when Firefox closes, for example I'm spending some time on www.kongregate.com it's a website with flash games and as you may suspect I'd like to keep my progress from those games for future visits, however whenever I close Firefox it automatically deletes files from "C:\Users\<me>\AppData\Roaming\Macromedia\Flash Player\#SharedObjects\########\assets.kongregate.com\", that file has saves from games from kongregate and I want to keep that, anyway I'll post a list of my Privacy settings to help you help me achieve what I'm writing here about also "ON" means that box has check mark and "OFF" that it doesn't:
Tracking:
-Tell websites I do not want to be tracked - ON
History:
-Firefox will: Use custom settings for history
-Always use private browsing mode - OFF
-Remember my browsing and download history - OFF
-Remember search and form history - OFF
-Accept cookies from sites - ON (I've added www.kongregate.com as well as *www.kongregate.com* to exception list with "Allow" option)
-Accept third-party cookies - ON
-Keep until: I close Firefox
-Clear history when Firefox closes - ON
Location Bar:
-When using the location bar, suggest: Nothing
Options for "Clear history when Firefox closes
When I quit Firefox, it should automatically clear all:
History:
-Browsing History - ON
-Download History - ON
-Form & Search History - ON
-Cookies - ON (Corrected typo)
-Active Logins - OFF
-Cache - ON
Data:
-Saved Passwords - OFF
-Site Preferences - OFF
-DownThemAll! History & Queue - OFF (Not that this one matters)
-Offline Website Data - OFF
These are my current settings which I believe should allow me to keep cookies from kongregate while other cookies are being deleted, but if that is not the case please tell me which options should be set at what to allow me keep cookies from kongregate, if it is not possible to have that then please suggest me some extensions that would allow me to keep cookies from kongregate while deleting others.
Thanks in advance!

I'm not sure why you wrote above: Cookies - OFF if you were clearing cookies. Clearing cookies that way also clears cookies (including Flash local storage), so I would have suggest that if cookies were included in that list. That is why I posted to check in Safe mode because that would be another possibility.
To summarize:
In case you are using "Clear history when Firefox closes":
- do not clear Cookies
- do not clear Site Preferences
Clearing cookies will remove all specified (selected) cookies including cookies that have an allow exception.
- Tools > Options > Privacy: History: [X] Clear history when Firefox closes > Settings
- https://support.mozilla.org/kb/Clear+Recent+History
Note that clearing "Site Preferences" clears all exceptions for cookies, images, pop-up windows, software installation, and passwords.
Let all cookies expire when you close Firefox.
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Keep until": "I close Firefox"
Make an Allow exception for the ones that you want to keep.
- Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Exceptions"

Does it help if you remove the check mark on "Clear history when Firefox closes" ?
Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
- Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.
Hello,
Thanks for answering, about if it helps if I remove check mark on clear history, well I tried and it worked, then I switched it on again and started turning on options one by one until I found that turning on Cookies makes my save games delete after Firefox closes so I can still have "Clear history when Firefox closes" turned on with few options to clear unwanted search history and similar but keep cookies I allowed to stay in "Exceptions".
Now my question is about starting Firefox in Safe Mode, what for should I try that, is there something wrong with my Firefox or was it for cookie related issue, I've been having "Transparent dropdown menu" syndrome here and there but I've got so much stuff on Firefox that I really would like to avoid Firefox reset and possibly lose a lot of stuff.

hello the part about safemode was likely meant just as a general troubleshooting advice - if you already could solve the issue then it's not necessary to perform these steps too.
to address the transparent dropdowns, please try updating your graphics driver, or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in firefox > options > advanced > general.
Hi,
Okay so no need to use Safe Mode since original issue is solved.
About transparent dropdown, my graphics driver is most up to date and hardware acceleration is unchecked for me as it is shown in your screen shot.

Ah I apologize cor-el, that Cookies - OFF was a typo, I had to write that text twice since first time I had "Access Denied" when submitting my question so second time I was writing that same question I made a mistake and wrote "OFF".
Can you please elaborate what exactly does "Site Preferences" do because I allowed kongregate in exception list, removed check mark in "Clear history when Firefox closes" on Cookies but left check mark on for Site Preferences. Like is it okay if I leave Site Preferences ON, will it affect cookies or local flash storage from kongregate somehow?
Sorry my native language is not English and I might have some trouble understanding sometimes.

If you have set any cookie exceptions or other exceptions then those are lost if you clear the Site Preferences.
Also note that Firefox doesn't use the disk cache if you clear the cache when you close Firefox. You can see this on the about:cache page and in Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content
Okay, that clears it up, thanks for your help!
