Have tried sveral times ot update to Firefox 12 as suggested but each time when I re-open Firefox, it is Firefox 10. Am running OS X 10.7.4. Any suggestions?

THank you for your input. I downloaded it again and had the same results. opening within Finder gave me v12, but from the dock I got v10. I removed ir form dock, then reinserted it and now all is well. Still getting used to the mac :)

Are you updating from within firefox?
If so please try downloading the update from the website instead
https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/
If that doesn't work I would recommend uninstalling firefox and then reinstalling. You will not lose your settings / bookmarks etc because they will be saved in your profile folder which is not removed during uninstallation.
Post back if neither of those work.
