How to prevent backwards sync between 2 computer, with a large bookmarks file size?
We have a question about bookmarks sync, with specific characteristics, please.
We purchased another computer, a laptop, and wish to benefit from the bookmarks sync between them. However, we're affraid of a backward syncing situation. How can we make sure we prevent that?
For example, say we worked on the desktop for a week, and then need to use the laptop. What should we do when we turn the laptop on and open ff browser, if we wish to sync from the desktop to the laptop? Do we press the Sync button on the laptop? - or will that force a backward synching from the laptop to the desktop? If that's the case, than how do we sync reliabely? And let's say the day after, from the now-updated-laptop to the desktop? Is the safest way to do it by turning the sync option off, and copying the bookmarkbackup folder from one updated computer to the other?
Also, this may complicate things a bit - We use the browser bookmarks in a non traditional way. It's kind of an archive for us. The .jsonlz4 file size in bookmarkbackups folder is 37MB. We remember reading somewhere before, the server backups stores files up to 10MB. So, question is, does the large size or the bookmarks file will affect the synching process between computers?

Firefox Sync does not really have a forward or backwards sync. It will sync all the selected data types between the different devices you have connected until they all have the most recent data.
Hi Paul, thank you for answering us. The most recent raise a question. Say, the desktop is updated and has 1000 bookmarks, and the laptop isn't updated and has 900 bookmarks. If we now use the laptop, and make an offline change in its bookmarks, than now its the most recent.
We're gathering and arranging bookmarks on a daily basis, and have to learn how to prevent sync misses, while there's always a time gap between the two computers.

If the laptop bookmarks are also in the desktop bookmarks, those will be kept, any missing will be added. The same approach would be taken the other way.
Yes, the 900 laptop bookmarks are part of the 1000 desktop bookmarks. So if we understand correctly, ff knows the difference between missing bookmarks and deleted bookmaks? Meaning, in our example, that just because the NOW RECENT laptop had - at the point of time a change in bookmarks been made - less bookmarks than the desktop, the desktop will never see it as deleted bookmarks. Correct? So, what Sync does, is comparing the total bookmarks on all devices, and as long as there is a bookmark on any device, it is added to all the other devices. In other words, RECENT, isn't a snapshot, but rather a pool divided between devices. Correct?
Now for the second part of our question - If the bookmarks file is larger than the 10MB per user cloud backup allowed (if we're wrong please correct us), does the size of the bookmarks file affect the syncing process?
