Why is there no Android version of Thunderbird? I desperately want to leave the gmail app and want to be consistent with other platforms on which I use email.

The development of the Thunderbird email client has only been on desktop Windows, Mac OSX and Linux.

Thunderbird has not been a Mozilla product for a while now so there is less chance of a version for Android any time soon.
