after i search for an item in my bookmarks, how do I get Firefox to show me where in my bookmarks the item is located?
after i search for a bookmark, i'd like the ability to right-click on the search result and have it display where it actually is in my bookmark list. does Firefox already have some way of doing this? if not, it's a feature i'd like to see added. thanks.

Unfortunately, this is not built in.
Fortunately, there is an add-ons to ease your pain: Show Parent Folder. Use the Options dialog to show the full hierarchy if your bookmarks are deeply nested.
Does that do it?

The only way to do this without an extension is to (middle) click the bookmark to open the link in the browser and click the highlighted star on the location bar to open the edit window.
Best is to switch temporarily to offline mode before doing this to avoid opening the link.

Too cumbersome, but thanks for the suggestion anyway.
I'll try the add-on, but it seems burdensome to the system to have to use a bunch of those, no?
Hi bbran, it's true that extensions affect performance. Since this extension only runs when you open the Library dialog, it shouldn't affect page load times, but probably adds some microseconds to the browser startup time.
@rrrccc - Thank you for posting this question as I was just about to post the same. Seems like an obvious need and could be easily implemented.
Too bad there is not a way to vote on issues such as this to show user need/want/support... Or is there?
@jscher2000 The add-on you suggest is only for the Bookmark Library view. Anything after using Ctrl+B to open the sidebar?
A way would be to temporarily switch to off line mode (Firefox > Web Developer) and click to open the link.
Then you can click the star on the location bar to open the "Edit This Bookmark" dialog and click the arrow at the far right of the Folder field to see in which folder the bookmark is located.
