The new FF version (8.0.1) runs far more *slowly* on my old computer, so how can I uninstall it and return to the previous version?

Download 3.6.24 from http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all-older.html

Uninstall 8.0.1 and do NOT check the remove personal settings (unless you want to start fresh).

Then install 3.6.24

You need more RAM to be able to use a Firefox 4+ version, 512MB or more.
