Can anyone help us with this prob, pls?

I am the original poster for this problem. It turns out it is being caused by Realplayer, specifically the extension for Firefox that detects embedded Realplayer compatible content. If you disable this or uninstall Realplayer, all will be well.

I have had the same problem since I installed Firefox 4.0.

Thank you for letting us know that The RealPlayer plugin conflict, was the source of this problem.

Another way to fix this (for good) is doing the following:

1) Click on "Tools">Options"

2) Click on the "Applications" tab

3) Search in the "Content Type" column, all the applications that start with the words "Windows Media." Click on the content that is listed to the right of each application's name and choose "Use Windows Media Player (default)."

By doing this, Firefox will avoid using the Windows Media Player plugin and will open the corresponding application directly with Windows Media Player.

I just did this and is working perfectly. Try it and let me know how it works for you.

I forgot to say that I am on Windows XP and WMP11 in case that that makes a difference.

Hey, I had this problem for a while and finally gave up. But recently for some reason I had to reinstall the shockwave plugin and now the wmp plugin works just fine. Maybe this could help you. Try reinstalling the shockwave plugin -> Restart computer -> ....
