I'm now making Firefox my default browser because Safaari keeps crashing immediately after opening. That means I can't get into Safari to initiate importing my passwords into Firefox. How can I import them directly from within Firefox ?

I'm not sure if you can import Safari passwords without opening it first, but check out this article for bookmarks and history: Importing Safari data into Firefox.
