Selected text not overwritten when new typing begins

When I select a line of text, normally it would get deleted/overwritten when typing a new line of text, but when I select text in Firefox and begin typing again, it simply deletes the first word in the selection and keeps the rest. Is there a setting to have ALL text selected deleted/overwritten when new text is entered? Selecting one word overwrites the whole word but when an entire line to be deleted is selected, only the first word is deleted and typing begins where that word ends.

I’ve noticed the same behavior before — it’s definitely a bit frustrating. From what I understand, Firefox doesn’t always overwrite a full line selection in some cases, especially if there’s formatting or certain scripts involved. Usually, using Ctrl+A (Cmd+A on Mac) before typing ensures everything gets replaced.

Interestingly, even on platforms like phonexa, I’ve seen similar quirks with text inputs or fields where selection doesn’t behave as expected until the input is reset. It’s a small thing, but it can save a lot of headaches!
