Double-clicking a folder shortcut tries to upload the shortcut instead of opening the folder

This is a problem I only started experiencing yesterday, but if I try to upload an image to a website (such as social media), and I double-click a shortcut for a folder, it attempts to upload the shortcut as the selected file, instead of opening the folder.

This is only a problem with firefox, as I tried doing this in another browser and I was able to open it as a folder normally. Any ideas on what could be causing this or how to fix this?

I've been having the same problem recently as well, within the past few days.

As far as I can tell it only affects the folder shortcuts within "Recent Folders" and does not affect clicking on folders in, for example, Documents. (at least, for me)

If I single-click on the folder I want to open to highlight it, then right click > open, it will open normally, but any double clicks cause it to attempt to upload the folder as if it were an image or file (then I usually get an error for trying to upload an unsupported file type)
