Kaspersky's protected browser is a window in your current Firefox? I wonder what they are changing that makes it a protected browser?

I don't know whether you would be interested in the following, but this is what I set up for one site:

Secondary Profile - Setup and Test

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

Take a quick glance at the page and make a mental note of which Profile has this notation: This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted. That is your current default profile.

Click the "Create a New Profile" button, then click Next. Assign a name like Protected, ignore the option to relocate the profile folder, and click the Finish button.

Firefox will switch your default profile to the new one, so click the Set as Default Profile button for your regular one to avoid an unwanted surprise at your next startup.

Scroll down to Protected and click its Launch profile in new browser button.

Firefox should open a new window that looks like a brand new, uncustomized installation. (Your existing Firefox window(s) should not be affected.) Please ignore any tabs enticing you to connect to a Sync account so Firefox doesn't bring over unwanted extensions. Install Kaspersky (or maybe Firefox will find it automatically).

Bank as needed...

When you are done with Protected, you can close the extra window without affecting your regular Firefox profile.

Secondary Profile - Future Use

To use this profile again, you can return to the about:profiles page and use the Launch profile in new browser window. Another option is to create a desktop shortcut. Unfortunately, this is a manual process:

  • Right-click a blank area of the Windows desktop > New > Shortcut
  • For the address, it's the address of firefox.exe plus a parameter directing it to use the Protected profile. For 64-bit Windows, that's usually this (the quotation marks are needed and capitalization of the parameters might be important):

    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -P Protected
  • Click Next
  • In the Name field, enter Protected (or whatever you like), and click Finish

You may want to choose a different theme in the Protected profile to distinguish it from your regular windows. See: Use themes to change the look of Firefox.

Ok, thanks for answering. I'll dig into this, but the behaviour of this protected browser from Kaspersky is by its nature to open another window... This protection brings extra features such as the impossibility to take screen shot...
