These last updates were the worst I have ever experienced with any software. Granted I am running Windows 7 because I am a senior citizen I can not afford a new computer that will run 10. but for crying out loud, how did those updates get out?

It crashed Windows and drove it to try and do a windows update, you all know there are no updates for windows 7. But thunderbird didn't know. I was stuck at 100% update and then trying to follow recommendations on a ubuntu laptop could not get into the windows 7 machine it to stop it. It then froze at 30%.

I had to restore from a backup from September, I lost a ton of email, several email accounts that I had to bring back from the server. and generally wasted at least a day with these ungodly updates.

I have to go out and find another email program that will take into account backward compatibility and not kill my poor old machine.

My trust in thunderbird is approaching ZERO.

The question is; "HOW DID THESE UPDATES GET OUT?"

Sir, sorry you had such difficulty, but Thunderbird doesn't cause Windows to crash. If Windows crashed then you have some other software (like antivirus) or drivers that crashed Windows.

There are no serious issues with Thunderbird on Windows 7 that we know of.

Sorry I have to disagree.

When I tried to restore, with a windows 64 bit repair disk, the ONLY two things that windows would roll back before were both Thunderbird updates.

All other restore points were gone. Does that tell you anything?

I rebooted, because it was acting slow. immediately it locked up on the 100%, no warning, no asking about installing updates.

Now I did not install any updates nor have any in the Que nor authorize any.

The last updated I authorized were Thunderbird updates. Seems awful strange that the only thing updated was Thunderbird. Seem stranger still that no restore points were found.

No other software changes, except today Firefox updated after I restored from an external back-up drive with a back-up from September.

I use appropriate protection Malwarebytes and that is always running.

Something very freaky happened and I blame it on Thunderbird.
