unread messages are showing as read.
When I open ThunderBird many of my new messages show up as already read ie they are not in bold face type. How do I correct this?

getting mail on that account using a tablet or phone? That is the usual cause.
This does not solve my problem. I am using Thunderbird on a desktop computer with Windows 7. Whether messages show up as unread ( bold face type ) or red appears to be totally random. Some unread messages are bold and others are not. I don't see any pattern.
