Then will say Login Failure.I chatted with AOL twice no result. The first time they actually said to call Apple? I've tried most of the ways to correct this in the article,but no luck so far. I can use AOL webmail to see messages, but I much prefer using Thunderbird. This is a pop account and Thunderbird is IMAP, bu I don't know that affects anything as it worked previously.

What are you talking about? POP and IMAP are protocols how an email clients is accessing the server. It's either POP or IMAP, unless you set up the account twice.
