When I go to my bookmarks page I don't want to see anything but bookmarks. Hope that makes sense. So how to get rid of all the non-relevant stuff in Library? I want to see nothing but Bookmarks Menu. No History, Downloads, Tags, Bookmarks Toolbar or Unsorted Bookmarks. When I bookmark a page it should go to the Bookmarks Menu. When I want to organize it better I'll cut and paste it to a folder I create in the Bookmarks Menu. So logical and simple. Is this possible?

All those things are stored in the places.sqlite file. They are displayed separately in the Bookmarks, Downloads, and History Managers.

Note that "Bookmark This Page" will add the new bookmark to the Bookmarks Menu folder and not to the Unsorted folder like clicking the star does.

Try this extension to add a new bookmark by default to the Bookmarks Menu folder:

There is no way to hide the other folders from the Library window and the new behavior in the current release to select the Unsorted folder by default if you open the Library doesn't make it easier.

Care to share with the rest of us where this wonderful file is? When I tried it in the Address Bar nothing happened. So it must be hiding somewhere else.

Is it possible to see the Library without all these useless other folders scattered all around? I want to see just Bookmarks Menu on the left. The only useful thing on the page. Toolbars are necessary if you've completely lost your memory and can't remember commonly used shortcuts, otherwise they just waste vertical space and we never have enough vertical space with widescreen monitors.

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder where your personal data is stored:

You can use the SQLite Manager extension in Firefox to inspect SQLite databases.

Did you look at the bookmarks sidebar as an alternative for the Library?

{ Ctrl + B } opens and closes the Bookmarks Sidebar. No "History" or "Downloads" in the Bookmarks Sidebar.

IE 6.0 and 5.5 used { Ctrl + B } to open a bookmarks sidebar - an example of "commonly used shortcuts".

Yes, its better of course. But I like the 2 column display of the Library. I wonder why Firefox opted not to use F4 to enable and disable the sidebar that is used by almost everyone else.

That was weird. I couldn't post all day today. Just when I was getting some great help and wanted to thank the contributors!  :)
