Ever since the last TB update through Ubuntu Linux, I have to restart if I haven't checked downloaded messages, this only occurs after about 60 minutes of not checking/reading emails.

I have TB open all day, with it checking for new messages on a preset time cycle, been using it this way since around '99/'00 (I think) when I first started using it. My health is poor so, I only check to see what's new every couple of hours or so.

When I start to read new emails, I double click on 1st unread to open in its own window, most emails are then deleted, and this is where I have trouble, the next email shows as a blank window, with TB showing the Loading bar in the LR corner. At this point, closing the email's window & reopening on it, makes no difference, TB just hangs on "opening email".

The only way to fix this is by restarting TB, and even then, it may require 2-3 more restarts to be able to read the rest of the downloaded messages. Then, if I don't try to read any emails within the (approx) 60 minute time frame, the issue reoccurs.

When I am composing I want TB to recognise the different address books I have when I type the destination name(s) in the To: bar. when composing the email. I have several different address books. I could do this in when using W10 but I have just moved to W11 and imported the old address books, I note that on import they have a slightly different directory structure (they are no longer sub-directories.) - they are directories - see images attached (W11...).

Now compare that with the W10 image (file W10...) and note the difference.

There were no instructions about getting W11 into W10 structure and no warning about the consequences of not doing this. Presumably there is a method - but I didn ot find it on the change over.

I cannot just move the directories around in the All Address Books pane which is what I expected to be able to do.

The Capture file shows TB on W10 picking up the RSSNI_LGC address book when I have only typed in RSSN

Please advise as it is currently a pain in the rear.

Best

In both my desktop older installation (now updated) and my new laptop installation, when I go thru Account Settings and check off what I want, it all changes when I leave the setup. I uncheck the startup page, and when I open both versions of Bird, the startup page is there again. Same with table/card setup, and other options. Isn't there a "save" in Account settings? Thanks, Stacy

Having updated to 140.2.1 there are two Outboxes in my local data. They are both named Outbox but one refers to a location of "Outbox" and the other to a location of "Unsent messages". The former is the location where messages to be sent should go, the latter is the location used in previous versions of Thunderbird. Unfortunately Thunderbird is putting messages in the latter. Not only does this mean that my Thunderbird does not match the documentation but also the Send Later addon uses the former and is therefore not working. This seems to be an error in the update process. How can I get Thunderbird to use the correct location ("Outbox")? I can find nothing in prefs.js that relates to the location of the Outbox ... surely it can't be hard coded!

I am really really distraught right now. It took me two weeks to get the time and focus to write a long reply to a company's nice email to me. Stayed up till 2am to write it. Deliberately wanted to re-read it in the morning before sending. Gone. Nowhere to be found. I pressed "Save to draft" before closing my laptop. But not saved. This account actually has a "draft" folder, unlike most of my other accounts in Thunderbird, which I also cannot figure out and no one has helped me with.

I have been getting server messages saying that I was trying to contact an email account on Google that does not exist. Happened every day, sometimes twice a day. I checked my contacts in Thunderbird and indeed a bogus account was there, and I deleted it. I never tried to send any messages to that account. So, I am wondering if Thunderbird is checking my contacts to make sure they are all valid. I cannot think of any other explanation. Any ideas?

When I compose a message in Thunderbird that contains an inline base64-encoded image (for example, an HTML ), the image is correctly visible in the compose window.

However, after sending the message:

Other mail clients and devices display the inline base64 image correctly.

In Thunderbird (both in Sent and Inbox folders), instead of the image there is just an empty placeholder/blank space.

Steps to reproduce:

Compose a new HTML message in Thunderbird.

Insert an inline base64 image (e.g., copy-paste from clipboard or manually via ).

Send the message.

Open the sent message in Thunderbird or receive it on the same Thunderbird client.

Actual result: The inline image is not displayed — only empty space is shown.

Expected result: Thunderbird should correctly render base64-encoded inline images, as other clients do.

Saludos cordiales. Carles F.

I think there's not much to add past the title line, but I will emphasize that I want to add an account to the program, but have the field for my personal name be left blank from start to finish, and never have it populated. Not even adding an account and then removing the name later. Name never there at all.

It sure seems like Thunderbird is insisting on a name being given, and won't let me click continue with the field blank, like it ought to. I guess something is wrong in my default settings? What fixes it?

My Thunderbird is organized with a series of nested folders. When I go to a folder to check new messages, and select a newly arrived, unopened message, the system thinks for a few seconds, and then bounces down to open the previous most recently opened message, not the unopened one that I want to view.
