we have installed the 102.3.1 version of Thunderbird on our workstation but we are unable to import the .mbox file, as it returns the following error:

Unable to import into this folder (imap or newsgroup type)

Delete the .mbox extension if the file has an extension, e.g. from Google Takeout.
