I am new to Mozilla VPN. Followed the instructions and made sure mozillavpn was allowed to communicate through Microsoft Firewall on both public and private networks. Double-checked in settings Windows 10 to make sure it had permission.

I am currently on a private (home) network. Mozilla VPN starts with message "masking connection and location". It then displays message "attempting to confirm connection". It pauses there for a couple of minutes before failing. In quick succession, I get a message about "disconnecting" then "unmasking".

Any suggestions?

I found a solution for my setup based on some other support user comments. You have to go to the "gear" icon on the main VPN window, then pick Network Settings and turn on Local Network Access. Seems it was the wifi printer that was the cause and this option fixes it.

Hello there,

Can you try resetting the VPN? To reset the VPN, please start by signing out of the Mozilla VPN. You can do this by clicking the gear icon at the top right of the application, and selecting ""Sign Out"" at the bottom of the options. Next, please uninstall the application, followed by reinstalling. We recommend using the most recent installation files which can be downloaded from https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/products/vpn/.

The sign out is an important step for the process due to deleting some files that otherwise don't get purged.

If this still does not resolve the issue please contact us again.

Mine is stuck at attempting to confirm connection, then turns off. I tried signing out and uninstalling/reinstalling and it still fails

Same on my end with Windows 10 Lenovo. Tried uninstalling/reinstalling several times (with the log out) and it just keeps "Connecting..." before timing out. Works fine on my Android BlackBerry though...

Same problem here and turning on "Local Network Access" under Network Settings solved the problem for me.

Yep, this fixed the issue for me on MacOS. Thanks!

I am encountering this issue as well. The VPN was working fine earlier this week but now, regardless of what server I select, I am getting hung on "Attempting to confirm connection".

I tried checking the local network access box as suggested as well as "resetting" the VPN by signing out and uninstalling.

Is there a solution to this issue? It works fine on my Android device but my computer cannot connect.

I imagine that I'd be able to access the gear icon in the main window if the VPN ever let me sign on in the first place, but, alas, it will not. I got a new machine recently, with Windows 10 Pro and was excited to finally get this VPN working on my home computer since it didn't work on my previous Windows 7 machine. As others have stated it works fine on my Android phone. I cannot get past the subscription confirmation screen. There's no way to reset my VPN connection since I've never successfully signed in on this machine in the first place. This is on a fresh Windows install, too. It's literally the second download/install I performed after getting Firefox...now I'm rethinking this.

This problem just started happening with my Windows 11 laptop. I've uninstalled and re-installed twice, trying deselecting the Local Network Access option (as it was selected) then tried to connect, then selected that option again and tried connecting again. Nothing works. VPN version 2.7.1 (2.202202181956)
