The layout of Thunderbird has changed, without my having knowingly done this I want to revert to the standard layout I've been using for months.

You control the view From the View and Layout menus. There is an icon at the right end of the header bar that opens a dialog box to turn columns on and off.

It's fixed now. I reinstalled the email client and it loaded in the same way. But it's back to the original now. Thanks for help.
Your data and settings are stored in your profile. The profile is separate from the program so reinstalling the program rarely fixes anything.
