Network settings I set to No Proxy, but FF 57 changes it back to use proxy. Why will it not remember my settings and leave them alone?

Hi,

Would you please take a look at the article :

How to fix preferences that won't save

Probably a rhetorical question, but after you changed the setting, did you click 'OK'  ?

Yes, I have ticked OK. Thanks for asking as it is easy to miss

Would you give this a try please :

Type in the address bar about:config (press Enter) (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar and look for the preference :

network.proxy.type

And set its value to   0 (zero)

Then close and restart Firefox in order for the change to take effect.

Does that work  ?

Let's try Firefox in Safe Mode :

If Firefox is not running : Hold down the Shift key when starting Firefox. If Firefox is running : 3-bar menu => ' ? ' ( 'Help' at the bottom of the dropdown) => 'Restart with Add-ons disabled'. Then OK the restart. A small dialog should appear. Click 'Start in Safe Mode' ( not 'Refresh' !)

....... and I found this :

https://stackoverflow.com/questions/25970652/firefox-proxy-settings-keep-on-changing-when-start-from-remotely

But that probably won't apply to your situation ......

Thank you Happy 112, the link above seems to have solved the problem - been ok for 2 - 3 days now. The pref.js file was not where the link said it would be but I found it and added the suggested lines, so fingers crossed. Thanks again.

But well done you  !
