Since you have uninstalled and installed already please Download a Full Version 56.0.1 Installer from : https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

You may want to go to the Extended Release Version https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/organizations/

If return please list your OS and Firefox version # please as well as Extensions as sending info to Mozilla is turned off and that info helps us help you.

Please let us know if this solved your issue or if need further assistance.

It still doesn't respond to search or web sites . OS Windows 8.1 Firefox 56.0.1 If there is a version # other than this I don't know where to find it. I have not installed any extensions until I sort out the browse problem, unless they are in my previous profile.

Some problems occur when your Internet security program was set to trust the previous version of Firefox, but no longer recognizes your updated version as trusted. Now how to fix the problem: To allow Firefox to connect to the Internet again;

  • Make sure your Internet security software is up-to-date (i.e. you are running the latest version).
  • Remove Firefox from your program's list of trusted or recognized programs. For detailed instructions, see

Configure firewalls so that Firefox can access the Internet. {web link}

To open Action Center:

· Click the Start button, click Control Panel, and then, under System and Security, click Review your computer's status. I could not find Review your computer's status to remove Firefox from a list. I found the action center in a different place from the instructions. I turned off all firewalls, still couldn't access a site

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.

Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. All these programs have free versions.

Make sure you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

You can also do a check for a rootkit infection with TDSSKiller.
