It's been a long-requested feature, but as far as I know there are no plans to introduce it, and there's no add-on that provides it.

If you have the Message Pane open (F8), then by selecting multiple messages in the Threads Pane (message list), the first few lines of the message bodies are displayed in the pane as 'conversations'.
