After updating to the latest version of Firefox web-based audio and video (e.g. YouTube, Soundcloud, AccuRadio, etc.) no longer streams. The same content streams in every other browser version (i.e. Chrome, IE, etc.).

I've already updated to the latest version of Flash, flushed the web browser cache, reinstalled Firefox and tried other solutions in the Support Forum to no avail.

Please advise soonest or I will have to cease using Firefox as my primary browser.

Most websites will use the HTML5 media player and not a Shockwave Flash based player these days.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure such extensions do not block content. There is security software that can interfere with loading content, so check that as well.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem.

  • Switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Appearance
  • Do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Good afternoon.

Thanks for your reply but alas, no joy. The issue persists in safe mode even with the IPS and firewall disabled and the AV set to the "permissive" level.
