I don't want to delete emailsfrom desk top when I delete emails from other devices like IPAD's
TWC is cable company that have both IMAP and POP servers available. Thunderbird has IMAP server. Can anyone tell me how to accomplish my objective. Tech people from Apple and Time Warner don't have a solution. could set up I PAD with either server but defaults to IMAP

In theory this should be possible with POP mail but personally I have found it unreliable. There's some advice re IPAD here: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT201855 (includes some general comments about using POP with multiple devices)
Thunderbird has no servers. It is email client software that runs on your computer. IMAP email is server based. You remotely view messages on your providers server with the clients running on your devices. You delete or change a message from any device or directly on the server that change is viewed on all devices. I suggest you Google IMAP vs POP and learn how each format works and which one works best for you. It is sad that your providers help desk staff is not smart enough to explain that to you.
