I have experienced an issue with FF5 where some websites will only display in HTML.

Other sites that I have always used frequently that require password log in will not accept my log in, even though i can log via IE7.

Some sites will show broken image links.

I cannot understand what has occurred as I have made no changes to my computer or with FF

That issue can be caused by corrupted cookies.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
