When my computer, desk top, was set up Firefox was set up as default browser. The Home page would open with the firefox browser box, center page. After booting up from sleep this more, Firefox adds appear? The wed browser box is not there? Would like to return to how the computer was set up. Help?

Firefox 4 and later versions use a new build-in home page named about:home with a Google search bar on it.
That about:home page only shows some snippets and has a button to restore the previous session if applicable.

If you want a home page with extras then set another page as the home page like www.google.com or www.google.com/firefox as used in Firefox 3 versions.

Believe the problem is solved. On my computer there is a red (Firebox) box with a down arrow. After left clicking the down arrow - then click on start new tab button - all was corrected. Thanks for your help. Peace, bob..
