Your More system details list shows that you use a Ubuntu branded version (Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid)).

Does that also happen with the official Firefox version from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html ?
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Installing_Firefox#Linux

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

Re: "Does that also happen with the official Firefox version"; When I uSed WindowS, it waS the official Firefox. In Ubuntu I uSe itS verSion. No difference aS Same problem in both.

Re Safe Mode: After terrible experience with that in paSt in deStroying SettingS even though I did not diSSconect any uSing checkboxeS, I will not uSe again. In any caSe, not See aS uSeful teSt aS never know how long before the LoSS of lowercaSe S commenceS. Can be Soon after Starting Firefox or many hourS later.

I have many extenionS and I have teSted diSabling oneS that may affect text. But turning all off and waiting many hourS each time I reactivate one to See if it iS the problem would take monthS and force me to dump Firefox for Google Chrome. Firefox iS Still better even with thiS iSSue but chrome iS catching up. I uSe many BroSwer typeS for web teSting but prefer Firefox.

I had hoped, poSting here may bring Someone forward who had Same iSSue and reSolution. Did much googling on it firSt. But yeS, I think moSt probably an extenSion at fault.
