recently changed virus software from McAfee to Norton - since then both Firefox & MS Internet Explorer constantly hang up with "Not Repsonding" messages need to know what to look for to resolve

recently changed from mcafee virus SW to Norton - ever since then my Firefox & MS explorer browsers "hang" and I get "not responding" messages. Norton tried to assist but whatever they did didn't help - hoping someone can help me out here! I have to go to taskbar and terminate Firefox and IEXplorer programs in order to re-start browswers!
