Tell users they are offline when trying to load new messages

jidanni

Wouldn't it be a good idea to have a message pop up saying "you are offline".

That way the user would know why constantly tapping the "load 10 more messages" button wasn't working.

In fact pulling down to refresh the message list should also have this check enabled.

What are the arguments against this?

Hi jidanni

I believe your example falls within the wider milestone aimed at providing / improving in-app notifications. https://github.com/thunderbird/thunderbird-android/issues/8831

TB have noted that improving notifications is a priority and an area of active development. https://roadmaps.thunderbird.net/en-US/android/

I see you have also raised your point on Github. https://github.com/thunderbird/thunderbird-android/issues/11300

You can keep an eye on the release notes as and when these changes make their way to beta/stable releases.
