Unfortunately, this is an intentional change that our team rolled out with the recent new UI. You may continue using your camera app to scan a QR, and it'll automatically open in Firefox if you set it as your default browser. Hope that helps!

For what it's worth, I dont like this change. I'd like some way to open QR codes in firefox without going out to another app.

I know some people on this Community Forums are feeling the same. My recommendation would be to open a new idea on https://connect.mozilla.org/ (that's our official feedback platform), so we can share this with the team for consideration.

All very well that your team rolled this change out; however, maybe they should check that everything worls ok before they make these changes. I just tried signing up for 'sync across devices' and the QR code came up on the imac & I scanned it with iphone camera, only to have a page come up on the imac saying 'must use fiefox app scan' not system scanner !

Any comments ?

You don't need the in-app QR scanner for that. Please follow the steps in the attached screenshot to set up Firefox sync on your iPhone.
