Thunderbird setup hangs on "Checking Password" (accounthub)
On a brand new Linux Mint Debian Edition install, I could not configure my existing email accounts because Thunderbird hung on checking password. Searching the internet found many others with the same problem but no answer.
It turns out the 2SV was turned on but as I was always accessing from verified computers, I was not being asked for a code sent to my phone. This new install was not trusted and so it needed to complete the 2SV.
The simple issue was that I needed to turn off 2SV in order to connect to my accounts.
- Is there a return code from Gmail or Yahoo mail servers telling you that it is waiting on the 2SV so that you can inform the users. Alternatively, after a 3 minute wait you can assume something is wrong and provide the user with a help pop-up talking about 2SV or lack of internet connectivity.
Thank you
