cannot create new accounts manually on thunderbird mobile

marc173

When I try to create new accounts manually to my own imap server. It fails when I try to configure the server in Thunderbird mobile. When trying to connect to the server, I get the message: "unknown error unexpected character *(42)" There is no * in the fields I introduced in the configuration. The problem appears with the second account I try to add. The first (to the same server but a different email address and login) worked fine.

How can this be solved ? Is it a bug in mobile thunderbird ?

Have you asked this question in the thunderbird-android Support Forum or checked to see if some info is already available? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/products/thunderbird-android

The only other info I located was this and that error message relates to using correct server settings. In this instance it was a sending issue, but error seems to be something not set up correctly. https://forum.k9mail.app/t/receiving-mails-works-but-sending-doesnt-cannot-connect-to-server-unexpected-character-42/7530
