What is Firefox WikiSpecies Storage Limit?
I use Firefox to download, copy, and store WikiSpecies pictures.
Currently, my .../Documents/WikiSpecies/Animalia_Plantae_8 directory holds what it says are 90,876 items, totalling 11.5 GB. I have plenty of unused space in that directory (over 91 GB), so space is not an issue.
Lately, when I try to install a new picture, I keep getting a warning that the picture is already stored. This MAY be because I am running out of new pictures, but I can't tell.
Is there any capacity limit to a WikiSpecies directory?

You normally would get such a warning when you save a file under the same name as already present. Did you verify that a file under that name doesn't already exists ?
Yes; all the warnings SEEMED to be accurate. I'll have to wait until I can find a new file which has not been saved -- this is difficult, because I am not copying directories which I have saved in the past, before I started using WikiSpecies/Animalia_Plantae_8 exclusively.
I made the mistake previously of deleting all related Firefox files (not my saved WikiSpecies picture copies) after using them for ~5,000 to ~10,000 saves: I named the previously save directories Animalia_Plantae_1 through Animalia_Plantae_7.
If it remains usable, I will not replace Animalia_Plantae_8, ever.
I need to know whether Firefox will keep saving beyond about 90,876 items. Ideally, it will get slowed but will allow any number of saved items.
Would someone doing Firefox development confirm or deny this last? Please . . ..
I should mention: There are TWO possible limits involved:
1. Limit in number of saved items (= at least 90,876); and 2. Limit in number of files Firefox can add to its "used" list (=color change in files being displayed).
I'm giving up on WikiSpecies -- I lost ALL my records of saved files when I had to reinstall Ubuntu.
