I backed up my previous sessions (containing my pins, and window tabs) from the previous firefox (non-quantum) just before I updated to Quantum to another folder. When I upgraded, the quantum did NOT restore them and ending up losing all those pins and tabs..

I tried to restore from the old session but I was told that the sessionstore.js was an OLD system and the quantum uses some previous.jsonlz4, recovery.jsonlz4 and some other stuff..

It MUST work if quantum gives you the opportunity when I upgraded to import the old session (but failed)..

Maybe it is a bug (sounds like it to me), can you please create a bug report with as much detail as possible? (bug report form here: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/enter_bug.cgi#h=bugForm%7CFirefox )

I dont think it's a bug because I'm being told that the instructions to restore the old sessions is no longer valid in quantum because they changed to a new system. I need to know HOW to now...
