When typying t.me/username, instead of stopping to https://t.me/username (like Crome and Edge), after less than a second, Firefox goes straight to tg://resolve?domain=username and gives error:

The address wasn’t understood Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (tg) isn’t associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. You might need to install other software to open this address.

Hi  !

In that address (tg) is the protocol. Firefox usually discovers how to handle protocols from the Windows registry. Programs will often add themselves to the registry, but you could check with the program that you're using if you need to take extra steps to trigger that.

https://telegram.org/ Desktop Firefox doesn't have an API for that type of service, which is designed primarily for "mobile" devices. It looks like whatever the platform an App is needed: https://telegram.org/apps

To use the online Web App, try using this URL for login: https://web.telegram.org/#/login

Or install the Windows App which should be able to 'translate' the protocol Telegram uses. https://github.com/telegramdesktop/tdesktop

Sorry, maybe I wasn't enough precise in my question. I know Firefox cannot handle tg protocol. I'm simply asking why, instead of stopping at https://t.me/username, it redirects automatically to tg://resolve?domain=username. This doesn't happen with different browsers. Is this a bug? In Firefox or Telegram page?
