TB has started to exhibit terribly long latency lags

I'll be working on TB, and then it hangs for 5-10-15 seconds, if I click on a new feature, the screen goes gray until the latency resolves. Also get the Windows timeout error notice (see image)

After 10-15 seconds, TB resolves on its own and works OK for a little while, but then goes latent again after maybe 1-2 minutes. This is consistent last couple days. I've rebooted, cleaned caches, etc.. and the rest of the Win 11 PC is working fine, fast, no latency in any other program.

I asked my email providers if they were having IMAP issues, but everything OK on their end.

Ideas? TB v. 140.11.1esr (64-bit)

Hello, in my version of Thunderbird (140.11.1esr (64-bit)) on Windows, attachments appear at the bottom of the message. However, I would like the attachment bar to appear at the top of the email: how can I do this?

I had to log in this morning, the first time as its automatic, and when i did all my folders and emails have gone. Where are they as there is important information in there which i need. The page layout is different too as i can't delete anything. HELP

I can see and check mail fine, I can send mail fine, and I've tried repairing the inbox folder. I'm using OAuth. What is the meaning of this error? I get it every time I start Thunderbird.

When we first started using a third party application to track our customers information & jobs; we received emails showing the customers name on the correspondent/from column. Now all of the emails show the third party applications name and I do not know which customers are trying to contact us.

My new Greenby account was hacked I had to delete thousands of scam emails so my Mozilla account appears to have been blocked. Can I get back into Mozilla or have I been permanently block

I'm having a connectivity issues. Did some searching which directed me to the Appdata Profiles folder. When looking inside I see Mail and ImapMail. Both have numerous folders inside. Too may I believe. Based upon the screen prints of the folder's contents, do you see conflicts?

I have three email addresses with Outlook.com.

Pop.windstream I have not used in many years. Not sure what others I could possible delete.

Thanks in advance. I'm trying to get Thunderbird setup with an outlook.com email address. All the default server settings look fine. I know the email address is good since I can login via a web browser. Cookies enabled and all the other recommended settings including app password. Yet it keeps saying Unable to log into the server. Has anyone successfully done this with the latest version of Thunderbird. I'm on Zorin 18 Pro.

I am not happy with Thunderbird as my email platform, as I can't send emails through Thunderbird. I would prefer to make telstra my preferred platform Anette Jenkins

I was working busily in Thunderbird email, where I have a number of subfolders under "All Mail" where I store replies and such. One of the most important subfolders (which itself has many subfolders) has suddenly disappeared. I've looked manually through other subfolders, to see if I somehow moved it by accident, to no avail. Is there a way to search for a subfolder, or can anyone suggest where it might have gone?

The last new email I've received on Thunderbird for one of my accounts was on 5/13/2026 at 12:02 p.m. Every time I open thunderbird it tries to re-download the entire yahoomail account and times out. I have deleted all emails from the yahoo mail box from 5/13 and backwards. All spam emails have been deleted and the trash can has been emptied. Per online instructions I have also deleted the popstate.dat file, tried to repair the inbox file by right clicking on it, going to properties and clicking repair folder. I also tried to compact the folders, and have turned off my virus protection and nothing seems to be working. I also tried a new app generated password from yahoo. Current setup is pop.mail.yahoo.com port 995 SSL/TLS, authentication method = normal password. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Had my computer recently setup linux mint with Thunderbird for my email access. I used the automatic setup to transfer across from Microsoft Hotmail/outlook system.

now all my emails -time sheets pay advice plus plus important emails are now being delivered automatically to deleted file. Not the inbox

I had a file callede archive where I would store all my previous timesheets pay advice these apart from previous month have been deleted - suspect its a automatic clean up after ex many days so thats lost permanently

How can I resolve this issue of the inbox going to deleted file/folder ?

So I have a list of folders some of which are the default folders some are custom created.

When I try to re-order these it is very hit or miss: I select a folder, drag it to where I want it to go, wait for the blue placement line to appear and it may or may not re-locate. Or I simply can't move the folder I want to move and so I move folders around it in order to achieve the layout I want.

It is as if success depends on whether Thunderbird is in the mood for a particular move to happen and I find it really frustrating. It should or shouldn't work, it shouldn't be that it works sometimes.

What is going on with this?

this morning, after logging into my Thunderbird account, all my subfolders from my main account were in the "Trash" folder, and there was no correspondence in them. Folders named "V 2" also appeared in the Trash folder. Could you please advise if it's possible to restore these correspondence and folders to their previous state? I also tried using the "repair folder" function, but it didn't work.

I have TB version 140.11.0esr (64-bit) running on Win 10. I have multiple accounts and each is set to check for new messages every 10 minutes (nothing else is ticked under "Server Settings). Everything is ticked under "When new message arrives" (and default sound is used).

When new messages were available to download, TB used to play alert sound (and I would know to download new messages) but now TB is sounding (the new messages) alert every time it checks for new messages even if there are NO new messages to download! How do I revert to the alert ONLY being sounded when there ARE new messages to download?

I want to create a filter to match any of the 20 addresses on my list. Rather than manually repeating the 'add rule' 19 times, I hoped to import all 20 at once.

Creating a filter with 'to' and putting a comma separated list there doesn't seem to work; the addresses won't be matched. I can't find a config file to manually edit in my profile directory for filters, or an extension to create this filter.

My end-goal is to add this 'blacklist' of my old e-mail addresses that have been leaked to a spam filter. These messages already end up in my spam folder by a rule at my provider, but I want to mark them as spam too, so I can sort through the spam folder more easily to find false positives.
