I want to auto delete all msgs from a specific sender. I want to create a filter which will delete them so I won't see them at all (auto deleted). I tried to create one but could only move the messages frm the sender to the spam folder. But I don't even want to see them there. I want them gone automatically.

How do I do this?

A substantial portion of email spam that I receive has a couple of characteristics: - the subject line includes "Sonic", and - the sender is plainly not Sonic.

For example:

Return-Path: <live1@tomokawasaki.or.jp> Received: from tomokawasaki.or.jp (tomokawasaki.or.jp [122.1.223.161]) by mwb-sdgw-mts-005c1.ocn.ad.jp (Postfix) with ESMTP id 063B61400008F for <ronks@sonic.net>; Sun, 19 Jul 2026 07:07:06 +0900 (JST) From: =?UTF-8?B?U29uaWMg0JLRlmxs0ZbQv2c=?= <live1@tomokawasaki.or.jp> (From translates to "Sonic Billing" here; in other spam it is cleartext) Subject: Automatic Payment Unsuccessful To: <ronks@sonic.net>

I am wondering if it is possible to construct a filter that says basically: If Subject includes Sonic AND From does not include Sonic Then Send to Trash (or mark as spam or whatever)

Can this be done?

There are certain emails that I receive that are *absolutely known* spam. I want these (but ONLY these) deleted as they come in.

I understand that one need to tick the "delete" box in Settings, but this seems to giver Thunderbird the right to delete anything that 𝒊𝒕 determines is spam. I don't want that. I want ONLY my own predetermined spam to be deleted.

And by deleted, I mean just that. Thunderbird just piles them up in the Trash folder, and this gets to be a big pile. Because Thunderbird makes mistakes, cannot just let it delete everything it determines to be spam, and so I have to go through this long list of junk in the Trash folder, which is annoying (because there's surely a better way that no one has implemented yet) and time-consuming.

I've made my own "delete" filter. It runs first (it's the first filter in the list), "before Junk Classification" and "Getting New Mail". Anything on this list should be deleted, because that's the ONLY action I have in this filter. If you're in here, you're gone.

Except your not. The filter is (for some reason) NOT run when new mail arrives. Instead, I have to open the filter, and choose "run on Trash folder". Then it works. But is THAT the design?!? Why is it not deleting arriving mail that meets the criteria?

There is also the problem now (as spammers have gotten more proficient) of the random character string preceding the @, followed by a domain name that you dare not mark as spam (for example, yahoo.com). These random characters are indeed random, and constantly changing, so you cannot filter on the address. But it seems to me some bright person might come up with something like "if 'known domain' is NOT preceded by 'known sender', delete". (This would require a user [me] to be very careful, or I could lose a new respondent who is not spamming me.)

But the point here is this: Over time, I have a great "delete" filter. Mail that this filter catches makes NO mistake. I want these messages (but ONLY these messages) to be gone when mail is retrieved. I don't want them in the Trash. And I don't want to have to take the time to run that filter on the Trash, because no one has created an extension that allows me to do this with a single click.

I would pay/donate, for this capability. But I can't bring myself to donate, or pay, when I have to go through a big Trash pile full of mail that, according to my filter, I should NEVER even see.

Other suggestions entertained of course.

But I'm spending too much of my life dealing with things that should be automated.

Regards,

In previous versions of Firefox it was easy to create a filter. Not anymore. I want to allow trusted addresses to come into my Inbox without going into Spam. Even when I follow (Google's AI) instructions exactly, all my medical information goes to Spam AND the trusted filter I created seems to have blocked dozens of browser choices in DIY sites, among others.

Over the last week or so, I have received an enormous amount of scam, but no matter how many times I "train" the filter, it doesn't work.

I have just received another 3 from this site: mid:02guhjkj6-ABMcSHN6Or-JiC-000000@eu-central-1.amazonses.com, which claim to be from Madasafish Security>security@qi9adgongzenElptrum.de

I have tried on several occasions to follow the manual instructions how to deal with the spam, but I find it so log-winded that my non-techie brain, which is not wired for these kind of things, gets tired and I give up. If anyone has a more intuitive approach how to deal with this, I would be very appreciative. I have marked sites multiple times as spam, but the spam control ignores me!

New W11 Pro pc, so new installation of Thunderbird. All profiles and folders moved over ok, but the Bin folder is an issue (main Gmail account IMAP). In my previous Tbird installation, I was able to right click the Bin folder, and be given the option of emptying said folder. Not now. The Spam folder does have the Empty option. Pics illustrate the folder list, what happens when I right click the Bin folder, and what happens when I right click the Spam folder, which does have the 'Empty Spam' option. I can highlight the messages in the Bin folder and delete them that way, but the right click option is shorter, easier... The only item I can find in the Thunderbird help pages tell me to delete the Trash and Trash msf folders in the profile - tried this twice, with no difference. It's a little frustrating... Any help would be welcomed, I guess I'm missing something really simple...

I have turned off every junk filtering option in Thunderbird, globally and for each account, yet the application started and continues to mark nearly every incoming email I receive as possible junk -- even emails from MOZILLA... It is not my ISP, nor my email provider, as they are not filtering junk, either. The banner on the preview window says "Thunderbird thinks this message is Junk mail", so that tells me it is THUNDERBIRD that is doing this. How can I get the app to stop??? There are no helpful conversations in the forum, since I've tried all of the solutions that were presented. I'm about to just delete the app and use something else which is a shame since I've been using Thunderbird for probably 20 years, but I cannot continue if this problem does not stop.
