is there a way to prevent HTTP Basic Authentication dialog from stealing focus in about:config? It can be really annoying if a site logs me out randomly while working in another tab. Chromium browsers does not do that

This issue just started recently, say within the past 2 weeks Mid September forward.

Only happens in Firefox, Chrome not having an issue. Open Facebook tab and it opens fine then after 10-30 seconds, it crashes with this error "This page isn't available right nowThis may be because of a technical error that we're working to get fixed. Try reloading this page."

Have disabled all extensions, cleared cache multiple times with no success.

Appreciate any other suggestions on fixing as I'm not a big fan of Edge. Old school. lol

unable to print. When I click on an AOL email to print, "preparing preview" appears. The email I'm trying to print usually just shows up and I click on number of copies, pages, etc. I need to print. Now, the preparing preview page does not load the email I'm trying to print, and then I get the "firefox has crashed" dialogue box appears.

I've been trying to get Firefox to save cookies for a few desired websites (bank, investment accounts website, Sync... and of course Firefox/Mozilla itself) so I don't have to constantly use the 2FAs for those accounts. Firefox refuses to keep me logged in to my Mozilla/Firefox account. Every few hours -- or at the very least, after a machine shut-down -- I have to re-login if I re-start Firefox.

I do not use the Firefox Password Manager; it's unchecked in Settings. Nor do I use the Autofill options in Settings. I use the Bitwarden Extension (set to Never for locking/logout -- because this is a home computer) for Firefox to log in to my sites, with a separate authenticator app, Authy.

The Firefox Privacy & Security Settings for tracking cookie blocking are the Standard ones; I haven't done anything to customize them. Further down on that page, I've tried leaving the box blank for clearing cookies on exit. I've tried checking the box and setting up exceptions for those few sites I'd like to login to without having to go through the 2FA rigamarole. I've done multiple Refreshes, clearing of History, uninstall/reinstalls including deletion of every Firefox profile and anything hinting at a connection to Mozilla or Firefox in all Users on the computer, including all the AppData folders. A few days ago, I even deleted the Mozilla/Firefox account and set up a new one with a different email address.

Nothing seems to work. Most recently, Firefox still had all the relevant cookies after the computer was shut down overnight, but an hour into my day's work, after closing Firefox and re-opening it a short while later, all the cookies are gone once again!

None of this was an issue about three months ago. I could save the desired cookies, get rid of other ones, use private browsing, etc. etc., with basically the same set-up and with the Mozilla/Firefox account I had had for years. Now, I've had to delete that account in an apparently vain effort to try to clear out anything "Mozilla" from this computer -- and it didn't work anyhow.

(I posted about this same issue a week or so ago, but didn't receive any responses and have now deleted that Mozilla/Firefox account -- see above -- so this message is an update.)

Long story here:

A few weeks ago, I lost internet connectivity on my desktop PC at work running Windows 11. I checked Firefox, Edge & Chrome but couldn't access any site. It took a few hours and a lot of updating Windows, rebooting each time the internet kicked out, but I got it to work again.

Fast forward to this past Monday the 29th when the issue happened again. Within roughly a minute, the internet just died on my desktop again. I grabbed my work laptop, also running Windows 11: same issue happened within 60 seconds. I checked Firefox on a desktop running Windows 10 - had no issues at all.

Today, I installed Firefox on another laptop (the same model at the other one) running Windows 11. As soon as it synced my account, the internet stopped working. I though it may be the Sync option, so I reinstalled Firefox on my laptop but did not log in to Sync - the same issue: dead internet within 30 seconds now.

I have:

  • Run anti-virus
  • Run network diagnostics and reset
  • Rebooted a multitude of times
  • Uninstalled, reinstalled at least twice
  • Run troubleshooting in Firefox (which I cannot attach the logs due to it being uninstalled right now)
  • Checked to make sure my modem/routers are working right (no one else in the building has this issue and we all use Firefox, but none are synced to my account)
  • I even asked my company's tech team (who are mostly software developers) and they said No, sorry, we don't help with that (wonderful right?)

I've attached a screenshot of the OG machine's information. Not sure if it will help at all, but it's worth a shot.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, ich habe neulich bei GMX einen neuen E-Mail-Account eingerichtet, der auch innerhalb GMX problemlos funktioniert. Bei der Integration in das Programm Thunderbird gibt es jedoch Schwierigkeiten, obwohl ich sämtliche Serverparameter korrekt angegeben habe. Ich konnte den E-Mail-Account nicht einrichten (s. Hi,

When i switch between two tabs by clicking with my external mouse ( I am on one tab and then point and click on another) and then directly start to scroll the page zoom like it does when i hold ctrl+zoom. What causes this?

It does not do the same in other browsers or other apps. It does the same with external mouse and track pad.

When I turned on my computer this morning, and opened Firefox, it froze, and had to be process-ended by Windows.

Subsequently, it also caused Windows Explorer crash.

I was forced to hard-reboot my computer, and restarted it to find all my tabs gone and unrecoverable, and all cookies deleted.

However, my browsing history remains.

Furthermore, my attempt at recovery of this data via the automated backup taken Monday 29 September 2025 - three days before this post - accomplished nothing.

I have looked in several places here, and found no help at all in recovering lost tabs. All threads remain unresolved.

Please provide troubleshooting assistance ASAP.

(And please be aware that the software had to be opened in order to post this question.)

Help me recover my passwords to sign in ! I fear that i might have mangled them Myself . I am 83 years old and have several passwords and passkeys tucked away but probably got them messed up while trying to reset my computer that i got from my daughter 6 months ago ! It appears that i have completely messed up the CPU and i really need help! My step daughter who is back in china now Is hard to communicate with. She has the other processor with her.
