This article explains how to use the SMS application on Firefox OS.

__TOC__ =About SMS= SMS stands for "Short Message Service". You can learn more about it [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_Message_Service here]. =Opening The SMS Application= To open the SMS application, tap [[Image:sms app]]. [[Image:HomeSMS]] After the SMS application has opened, your messages will be shown. =Create A New Message= To create a new message, tap [[Image:Editmessages]]. After you do this, you will see two fields: * Recipient: Who you are sending the message to. * Message: The message you are sending. The screenshot shown below is the recipient field. [[Image:recipient field]] The screenshot below is the message field. [[Image:message field]] There are 2 ways to enter the recipient's information. * Manually * From your contacts You can enter the phone number of the recipient manually into the recipient field. [[Image:addcontactnumber]] You can also choose the recipient from your contacts by tapping [[Image:addcontact]]. In the message field, type the message you would like to send. [[Image:addtextmessage]] {note} Tip: To make typing easier, you can enable keyboard word suggestions as-you-type, see [[How to enable the "Word suggestion" feature in Firefox OS]].{/note} After you have finished typing your message, tap the [[Image:Sendbutton]] button to send it. You will be taken to a thread that contains all messages between you and the recipient. Beside your sent messages you may see a spinning circle ([[Image:Sending Icon]]). The spinning circle lets you know that the message is being sent. =New Message Notifications= The following is a screenshot of the notification bar that is located at the top of the phone. [[Image:Notification Bar]] To see notifications for new messages, tap and hold onto the notification bar, drag it down and then select the new message notification. =View Your Messages= You can view your sent and received messages by tapping on [[Image:sms app]] to SMS icon. From there, you will see your message history. [[Image:inboxmessage]] Tap the message in the list to view the thread of sent and received messages. [[Image:Messageview]] =Delete Your Messages= # To delete unwanted messages, tap [[Image:Delete Message]]. #: The edit messages screen appears. # Select which message threads to delete by tapping [[Image:Deletion Icon]]. #:[[Image:Select Delete]] means that the message is selected. # When you are ready to delete the selected messages, tap [[Image:Deletemessage]]. After tapping on [[Image:Deletemessage]], you will be prompted to confirm the deletion.
