This article is an introduction to using SMS apps on Firefox OS. You will how to create, view and delete messages.

=About SMS= SMS stands for "Short Message Service". You can learn more about it [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Short_Message_Service here] on [http://www.wikipedia.org/ Wikipedia] . =Opening The SMS Application= To open the SMS application, tap the SMS icon which is the second icon in the screenshot below which is located at the bottom of the screen. [[Image:HomeSMS]] Once the SMS application has opened, you will be take a screen where your sent and received messages are. =Create A New Message= To create and send new message, click the new message icon as shown [[Image:Editmessages]] . After tapping the create a message icon, you will see two fields: * Recipient * Message The screenshot shown below is the recipient field. [[Image:recipient field]] The screenshot below is the message field. [[Image:message field]] There are 2 ways to enter the recipient's information. * Manually * From your contacts You can enter the phone number of the recipient manually into the recipient field. [[Image:addcontactnumber]] You can also choose the recipient from your contacts by tapping the contact icon. [[Image:addcontact]] In the message field , you can enter the message you would like to send. [[Image:addtextmessage]] Once you are finished typing up your message, press the [[Image:Sendbutton]] buton to send. After that, you will be taken to the thread of the messages sent and received between you and the recipient. Beside your sent messages may have a spinning cirle. The spinning circle is letting you know that the message is being sent. Here is an example of the spinning circle. [[Image:Sending Icon]] =New Message Notifications= The following is a screenshot of the notification bar that is located at the top of the phone. [[Image:Notification Bar]] To see notifications for new messages, tap and hold onto the notification bar and drag down and then select the new message notification. =View Message= You can view your sent and received messages by tapping on the SMS icon. From there, you will be taken to your messages. [[Image:inboxmessage]] Tap the message in the list you would like to view and you will be taken to the thread of sent and received messages like below . [[Image:Messageview]] =Delete Message= To select the messages for deletion click the delete messages icon as shown. [[Image:Delete Message]] You can select which message threads to delete by pressing the "O" icon as shown. [[Image:Deletion Icon]] After pressing the "O" icon, the dot will be filled red with a checkmark as shown. [[Image:Select Delete]] An alternative way to delete all is by pressing the {button Select all}. To deselect all then press {button Deselect all}. When you are ready to delete the selected messages click the delete button which is at the top right of the screen. The button of it is shown below. [[Image:Deletemessage]] After tapping on the [[Image:Deletemessage]] button, you will be prompted to confirm the deletion. The confirmation message will look like the one below.
