All of a sudden Thunderbird won't let me attach images

apstudio4075

Suddenly I can't attach images (or anything) to outgoing emails. I do this a lot and it worked fine all day yesterday, then stopped in the evening. When I click the Attach button, nothing happens. I've deleted 1000s of emails and compacted the folders, nada. My Thunderbird is up to date v153.4 on Win 10. Any ideas? Thanks, Andy.

This is a known bug. https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2077526

Beyond drag and drop there is another workaround:

  • At the top right of the Thunderbird window, click the menu button ≡ > Settings > General
  • Scroll down to the bottom and click 'Config Editor'.
  • Search for the preference mail.compose.attach.dir.
  • The value (Path) here must be changed to one that is still available (for example C:).
  • Restart Thunderbird.

That should fix it.

Yes thank you, that fixed it. Odd that when I went to find that path, it was a path to one specific image on my computer. I wonder how that happened, but thanks so much for your help.

Andy
