I recently created a Google Workspace account. There, I have a user profile with a custom email address. I've set up the new account in Thunderbird, and it is working as expected. If I send a message from my "external" account to the workspace account, it arrives, and I'm able to reply back.
One feature of Google Workspace is what they call "alternate email" addresses. They sort of work as an alias for the native address. I have created one such alternate. If I send a message from my external account to the alias, it arrives correctly in the workspace account. However, when I reply from the workspace account, it does not go back to the originating address, but instead it is addressed back to the alias. If I repeat the experiment from the Gmail web interface, it replies to the correct address.
I've downloaded all the headers, and the Return-Path tag is correct. I can provide the full header if needed.
It feels like there is an invisible forwarding action to get from the alias to the workspace account, and that the reply action is incorrectly finding the interim alias. But that doesn't really seem to be what I see in the headers - although I'm probably not the most expert reader of those.
And it isn't necessarily a Thunderbird issue. I can see that there could be something going on with Google. But this is a good place to start... :-)

I understand that I will need to have the same version of Thunderbird installed on my new computer in order to transfer my "profile". Since I can't access Thunderbird on my "crashed" computer, how can I know what version I had installed previously? How do I find where to load that version on my new computer?
Is there any way to share the spam and redirect training (rules to move incoming messages to specific folders) between them?

Thunderbird causes my machine to 'hang' from time to time,
1. often for up to a second and usually a number of times in quick succession on each ocasion. Sometimes this happens frequently - say every 5 or 10 minutes - sometimes only after an hour or more since the past occurrance.
2. My machine hangs completely - nothing will work, mouse, keyboard, sound, other apps etc. If I happen to be typing (into any app - including Thunderbird - when this happens, input ceases, the cursor freezes and - if the problem persists for a second or two, Windows reports "[app] is not responding"
3. I cannot be certain, but I believe the problem occurs whilst messages are being retrieved.
This is a very serious problem as it means that I can never leave TB running as the problems it causes are not acceptable.
4. This means I cannot deal with incoming messages without periodically re-starting TB - which is an utter PIA.
I am running Win 11 Professional on a 2-year old machine with 64 Gb of memory. I have run TB in Troubleshoot mode, I have confirmed that the problem occurs regardless or whatever other apps are running (or none) and I have proven conclusively that no other app causes any kind of similar problem.
Looking forward yto hearing if others have had the same issue and what can be done about it.

I have checked the SMTP server settings again, but it didn't solve the problem.
I have changed my password of my e-mail account to anew one, reinstalled Thunderbird and recreated my account, but without anything changing. Receiving works, sending does not.
Tried to install Outlook (sorry, just temporarily, I hope :) ) and there everything works just fine.
Maybe some Windows Firewall setting? Didn't find anything that seems to prevent Thunderbird from sending thou. Do you have any idea?

Since April 9, 6:14 PM CDT, most folders (e.g., Drafts, Templates, Sent) on my primary laptop in my primary POP email account, [edited]@bdcusa.com, have disappeared; and ALL SUBfolders in my Inbox have disappeared. Over 185,000 emails have vanished overnight!
On my primary laptop, I'm using Thunderbird 149.0.1 (64-bit) on the release update channel, still running 64-bit Windows 10 Professional, and have nothing backed up to the cloud.
Fortunately, on my secondary laptop, I'm using Thunderbird 115.18.0 (32-bit) on the esr update channel, running 32-bit Windows 7 Professional. I say, "fortunately," because ALL folders and emails are still there, so I know they haven't been vaporized!

So I quit and went to drafts, nothing there.
I checked and autosave is on for 5 mins.
hit reply again. typed in some text, set a timer for 12 mins, quit.
Again, no save.
So why is "Auto Save ever " x mins not working?

I just found out I have a folder in /home/<user>/.var/app/org.mozilla.Thunderbird/.thunderbird/1tniiwpw.default-release-1/storage/default/ called https+++www.googletagmanager.com. I wonder why I have this and what it does in the Thunderbird settings. It has something to do with Google's LLC, but I don't want to be part of that. I removed the folder completely and hope it won't come back, but I wonder. Who can tell me something more about this folder? Thanks.

I had a gmail email in my Thunderbird, during setup I had to get permission from gmail to connect using google api. All was good. I have since deleted the account from Thunderbird, restarted app and pc many many times and yet no matter what i do , thunderbird continuously brings up a message "Verify its you, Google need to verify its yo" like its still tryijng to connect. I recently purchased a new computer. Installed Thunderbird, created all the mail accounts I have and... no problems. All the accounts, once created, populated with emails. For 3-4 days, there were no issues.
Important to note: I let TB use all the default settings. And once everything was up and running >>>>I did not change anything<<<<<.
Then a few days later, I started getting the following messages for two accounts that had migrated from q.com to myctl.net. Entering the 100% proven-correct password results in the know endless-loop of entering the password and the same pop-up error message. The PW is 100% correct as I can go to Centurylinks' website and login using that same, exact password and read my emails.
I've spent enough time trying all the suggestions here, reddit, facebook etc so I'd thought I'd see if anyone has actually found a solution.
F5 and Shift F5 appear not to work after last update.??? Any help?
