I just logged on - always use Firefox -but all my bookmarks are gone!
I have always used Firefox. Today - some update has erased all my bookmarks. it says import from Edge - but I don't use that. I lost my job last month so all my bookmarks are so very important and now they are all gone. OMG
Please help.

Hello,
Firefox automatically creates backups of your bookmarks, which can be helpful if your bookmarks are lost or missing. To recover them, follow the instructions below.
- Click the menu button
, then click Bookmarks.
- Scroll to the bottom and click Manage Bookmarks.
- At the top of the Library window, click on Import and Backup and select Restore.
- Click the date of the bookmark backup you want to recover.
- In the new window that appears, click OK.
Your bookmarks from the selected date should now be restored.
For more information, see the Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer article. For other solutions, see the Recover lost or missing Bookmarks article.

This did not resolve my problem. there was nothing under Manage Bookmarks and the "Old Firefox data" folder has no bookmarks in it. I had to try to remember all my bookmarks and sign into them all again, when they used to, at least, be in my browsing history. The update would have let me import from another browser, but I never used the others unless a link specifically opened Edge or Chrome.
when I looked for bookmarks - hoping to find some from earlier in April or May 2026 when I got laid off - all I could find was bookmarks from January with .jsonlz4 as the type - but I have no idea how to look at it or use it.
I think I have remade all the bookmarks I need - but it was not easy. I wish updates did not remove the history files - I could have remade them more easily.
