When I use an authenticator app does that mean I no longer use a regular password that is stored in my Firefox password manager?

My app (I think you mean Password Manager, rather than authentication app) does NOT let me to use Both. You Have To choose either one or the Other. But, this is Like this for probably Every browser, I believe

You can, However toggle it back-and-forth as needed in the Settings somewhere, I know for a fact
