I have no need to "sync" other equipment to my desktop. Is there any way to permanently remove icon on menu bar

Hello oupamike,
Right-click on the icon and select "Remove from Toolbar" to remove the icon and hide it.
Or you can drag the icon to the Customize panel :
3-bar menu => Customize
It reappears on restart

That's weird ....
Assuming that you dragged the icon to the Customize panel : did you then click the blue "Done" button (bottom right) ?
In my case, I used right-click > Pin to Overflow Menu to get it off the bar. That didn't cost me any space because I already use that menu for other buttons I don't need as often. Not sure it will "stick" on yours, though.

That's where I dragged it - Customize panel => Overflow menu.
