When i installed Norton it changed the font for the worst. Norton could not help so I tried the above solution and it seemed to help. I just want to make sure by doing this I did not open my computer up to virus. I am a little paranoid regarding this issue

Hi, it is OK - as far as it goes, to start Firefox like that, but what you are doing is using Safe Mode, which is a special Firefox mode that can be used to troubleshoot and fix problems, so you shouldn't ordinarily need to, or be running Firefox like that.

It sounds as if there is something associated with Norton that is causing the problem, which you need to investigate.
