Firefox is blocking content from some local news sites and locking up the site??
I recently installed Vipre Antivirus. Since then some of my local news sites are locking up and not allowing me to view content. I went thru some checks with Vipre support including temporarily disabling the antivirus and this problem still persists. I did try using IE to view the same content and it worked just fine. Is there anything you can tell me to try?
Thank you.

Uninstalled the antivirus and that fixed my problem. I am working with their support staff to try and fix this. Thank you for all of your help!

Some AntiVirus programs may need unistalling to fully disable them. Some sites may not serve correct & or full content if you block some of their features or adverts.
Can you give an example if the site is free to use and does not require logging in, of something that works in another browser but not in Firefox. Preferably something that is text based content not for instance an embedded video.
www.inforum.com would be a good example. Just a local newspaper

Having more than one version of a program may cause issues.
You must remove the older programs. Then get the current full installer.
Fred does that page work for you ok in Fx40 ?

Have you tried using Firefox in its safemode, and with all plugins including FlashPlayer disabled by setting to never activate.
Just a hunch but does it help if you keep moving the mouse whilst the page is trying to load ?
It worked for me but I tested with an earlier and later version of Firefox not actually Fx40 itself.
I tested without FlashPlayer, and although you say just a newspaper it tries to play flash content, and streams animations otherwise. Although page content displays ok it is continually loading and displaying changing images, not something I would try to view without using some form of script or ad blocking.
Have you tried with just that tab open and no other Firefox Windows or Tabs ? I am wondering if you have a few such tabs open it could at least slow down Firefox.
There should be quite a few people around helping today, hopefully others will confirm, or otherwise, that the site works for them in fX40.
Is it just the one tab and site that you have an issue with,or is the whole browser locking up ?
It is only that site and a couple more that are similar. Once again I never had the problem until I installed my new antivirus.
The site homepage loads...It is when I try and click on a story that it locks up
The entire browser does lock up as well when I try and view website content. I cannot switch sites and have to close out completely.

I loaded the page, and checked several links. No problem.

What is that program? As a test, disable it and try again.
Yes I have FX 40.0.2...My new antivirus is Vipre 2015. I have disabled it and that did not solve the problem. I uninstalled Firefox and reinstalled and that did not solve either. As I said before I have no issues with IE just Firefox. The only thing I have not tried is completely uninstalling the antivirus. That may be my next move??

Please try again, but,
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
That was very good work. Well Done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.
It sounded likely it was the AV, bu not having Fx40 available myself I did not wish to jump to that conclusion. Thank for testing Fred. I've marked this solved.
