Can I copy a download of the browser to a thumb drive to install on my laptop? I have deleted both the IE that was preloaded, and my copy of Firefox due to a large black box that was appearing on launching the browser and that i couldn't click away. I had clicked a box asking my permission to support the dictionary. Maybe that caused the problem. I just want my FF back. Thanks

You can download a "full" installer for Firefox from the following page (scroll down to your preferred language):

If you get the black box back, could you post a screen shot of it? You can attach a screen shot to a reply to this thread using the Browse button below the text box. Please blur or delete any personal information in the screen shot before posting.

You can use one of these to start Firefox in Safe Mode:

  • On Windows, hold down the Shift key while starting Firefox with a double-click on the Firefox desktop shortcut

You can try to disable hardware acceleration in Firefox.

  • Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"

You need to close and restart Firefox after toggling this setting.

Some added toolbar and anti-virus add-ons are known to cause Firefox issues. Disable All of them.

down load it to what/where? the computer that i need it to be installed on does not currently have any browser on it...how do i access the internet without one, or how do i load the ff software onto a removable memory device. i realize that this is likely a very basic question, i just have not been able to find a solution myself. there are no options for saving the download to the desktop, to a drive or anything else that i can tell. it seems that your answer was telling me to open the download to the computer without access. what am i missing here? thanks

On the computer that has a connection, you can download to the desktop, the Downloads folder, or wherever is convenient, then drag the download to your USB flash drive.

If you want to be able to choose the download destination at the time of downloading, instead of moving the file afterwards, this article has the steps to make that change: Startup, home page, tabs, and download settings.
